DJ tips: never lower your standards! – – ProBeatzMaker

Never lower your standards! If you lower your standards to adapt to the situation it will lead to a lower level of performance. This goes for anything in life!

I had my wake up call friday night when I was doing a show and decided to shoot a quick video to talk about it.

In certain situations you might be tempted to adapt to the situation by lowering your standards. This is exactly what I did last friday. I was so tired that I didn’t take the time to prepare my crates, I was not thinking about the gig on my way to the gig and when I got there I settled for a DJ setup that was not right for me. As a result, I did not perform as well as I should have and that’s all on me.

If I would have been on point this would all not have happened.

– I should have made sure that I took the time to rest a bit. Even a 20 minute power nap would have been enough to refresh my mind.

– My crates should have been prepared and ready for any type of gig.

– When I got to the venue, the first thing I should have done was to change the DJ setup for my performance. If that means switching all the equipment, then that is what should have been done.

– I should have been in ‘warrior mode’ and my focus should have been on the gig. My mind was all over the place. Thinking about stuff that needed to be done at home, the kids, the upcoming holiday season, etc. All of these things are important, but not when you are on your way to a gig!

Always bring your A-game. Try to outdo yourself every time and treat every gig like it’s the final five minutes of a championship game. Be the best version of you, always.

DJ Tips on Music Copyright Law with Coe Ramsey -DJ Expo 2012 – – ProBeatzMaker

Lots of people write to me asking questions about copyright law and I always think, I would love to know the answer myself. We need a lawyer who specializes in music and pick his brain about our own issues and concerns. Well my friends, I found THEE guy and he’s also a former DJ. Thought you guys might be interested in hearing what he had to say, so I taped it for you.

If you wanna speak to him about anything you are going through….
